5 DAYS TO THE PLAINVILLE SLOTS REFERENDUM!
Reason #5 to VOTE NO SLOTS: Plainville selectmen accept Springfield's and Tewksbury's rejects.
The selectmen — without consulting the people of Plainville, and (according to Joe Fernandes) never having spoken with the representatives of Penn National Gaming before last night's meeting — signed an agreement to transfer the host community agreement from Plainridge to Penn National, a developer yet to be approved by the Mass Gaming Commission.
Who is Penn National Gaming? All we know is that they were roundly rejected by Springfield and Tewksbury.
What do they intend to do at Plainridge? Can an HCA be transferred? How can Penn National take over an HCA that they never signed by the deadline set down in the law? How does the Penn National spinoff last week affect their purchase of Plainridge? Will Penn National keep the staff at Plainridge that was there when the "irregularities" happened in the money room? These and other questions remained unanswered last night while the selectmen were blinded by dollar signs.
VOTE NO SLOTS on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10th.
The polls are open 7am to 8pm.
