We already know about the Fake Posters - if one reads the comments and the letters to the editor, it is clear that the one-sided tactics of the media - press, television and radio - are intent on creating the goose-step march toward Predatory Gambling.
Few letters of opposition are printed, opposition comments are deleted and reporting is mostly one-sided because they don't want you to know just how bad GAMBLING is for your community.
And so it is with The Republican.
The comment below in response to an article about a political hack's endorsement of the financially insolvent Mohegan Sun's Folly was deleted by The Republican:
Hampden County at its worst. Obviously, the state senate campaign contributions of yore are linked to investors with Northeast Realty and MS, hence the "who cares - has been" endorsement of the proposed Palmer casino.
The central MA casino was a back-room deal all along for billionaire Bob Kraft (Foxboro). Here is a teaser, Mizioch, who met with Kraft representatives about the project, says in a third e-mail 10 days later, "The Krafts want this bridge open prior to next season, so we are looking at a completion of 12/31/2010."
State campaign finance records show the Krafts made $500 maximum political contributions to Patrick and Murray, as well as maximum $5,000 donations to the state Democratic Party, as the project was being reviewed last fall.
There's a perverse irony with the racist expression, "Indian giver" with the Governor's patronizing the Wampanoag tribe. The Boston back-room deal has always been for Suffolk Downs. Even The Boston Chamber of Commerce leadership, whose members stand to lose economically are in bed with DeLeo and a Suffolk casino.
.... and western Mass, sheesh Beacon Hill players could give a $hit. We have all been played and "We the People" will pay for the "services/costs" of the gambling industry. Btw, (again)....remember who payed for the lovely Gubernatorial inaugural party/ball in Springfield? Yes, the same investors in a certain former state Senator and Northeast Realty who own a transportation company that will reap millions driving seniors to lose their social security checks.
Here's the cherry.....the gambling law gives the Governor $5million and the industry a $20 million dollar interest-free start-up loan from the taxpayer's stabilization fund. How's that for government bias and special interest give-aways? Have you ever gotten an interest-free loan from the government? How many small business owners could benefit from interest-free government loans and how many people could they hire locally to build a robust diverse economy?

Jessie Powell of Massachusetts, a citizen leader against the failed government policy of predatory gambling, recently spotlighted testimony about how predatory gambling interests paid a viral marketing firm to post fake comments on news websites to give the appearance of public support for electronic bingo machines. It was just one of the many revelations that has emerged from the massive scandal involving predatory gambling operators and the Alabama Legislature.
Why the deception? Because what predatory gambling interests – and the public officials who enable them – are really pushing is phony prosperity. They promote a “service” that deceives citizens and only survives legally because government is a partner. But just like with Enron, Countrywide Mortgage and Bernie Madoff, the time comes when the deception cannot be hidden any longer.
Predatory gambling is a failed policy and it will be one of the biggest issues of the new decade. When it ultimately goes down, there will not be anything fake about it.

Alabama: Fake Commenters Used, "bingo-bots"
Just as we've witnessed in Masschusetts, FAKE POSTERS were employed in the vote buying scheme in Alabama:
Gilley also detailed how he hired Atlanta-area marketing executive Jeff Rubin to create fake commenters on website to make electronic bingo seem more popular.
Users of many Alabama-based websites dubbed the ever-present pro-gambling voices “bingo-bots.”
Massey takes stand in shackles

One-time gambling lobbyist Jarrod Massey presented a much different picture on the witness stand than his one-time boss.
Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley pleaded guilty and testified against his former co-defendants in gray suits and ties.
But Massey, the lobbyist Gilley used as a go-between with lawmakers, took the stand in the maroon jumpsuit of an inmate after he elected to begin his jail sentence in January.
U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson told bailiffs to remove the shackles from Massey’s wrists Thursday afternoon, since he’d be handling transcripts and other documents during his testimony.
The government said it expected to present around 30 tapes during Massey’s testimony, with the disgraced lobbyist authenticating the calls, detailing their context and identifying voices and names mentioned.
Gilley, Massey and lobbyist Jennifer Pouncy all pleaded guilty to corruption and conspiracy charges and agreed to testify for the government.
Friday, Massey gave his account of the meeting with State Sen. Scott Beason, Gilley and VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor.
McGregor, former senators Larry Means and Jim Preuitt, current Sen. Quentin Ross and Harri Anne Smith, lobbyists Tom Coker and Bob Geddie and legislative analyst Ray Crosby are all on trial in federal court for the alleged vote-buying scheme.
Massey was intimately involved in the alleged plot to bribe Alabama lawmakers and buy their votes on legislation to declare a statewide referendum on the legality of electronic bingo.
Massey was recorded offering up to $1 million to Beason in exchange for his vote on the bingo bill.
Massey followed Gilley on the witness stand.
Gilley was grilled by prosecutors and defense attorneys for six days as he described efforts to pass the bill so his “life-savings” investment in the Dothan-area entertainment and gambling destination would not go to waste.
Gilley also detailed how he hired Atlanta-area marketing executive Jeff Rubin to create fake commenters on website to make electronic bingo seem more popular.
