2 DAYS TO THE PLAINVILLE SLOTS REFERENDUM!

2 DAYS TO THE PLAINVILLE SLOTS REFERENDUM!

Reason #2 to VOTE NO SLOTS: Plainville should not be forced to prop up a dead industry that cannot support itself.

The government — both state and municipal — has grown to crave the financial fix from the racetracks; they believe they cannot let racing or racetracks fail.

Government has kept racetracks in existence when public interest in the races had long faded.

Government has made racetracks race far, far more than is supported by public demand.

The government seems to believe that the laws of supply and demand do not apply to horse racing.

And now, the government plans to give a large cut of the money from slots and casinos to horsemen — people who can't keep their entertainment business going on its own merits — rather than designate those proceeds to caring for our elderly or on our schools. Instead, they will funnel money back to the dying racetracks and harness tracks to keep the crazy cycle going.

Name one other industry that has ever been nursed along through its dying days the way racing has.
