56 Days

September 10, 2013

November 5th.

Fifty-six days from today, we'll vote on whether or not we want to have a casino in our neighborhood. If you're against the casino but you've been on the sidelines to this point, let me encourage you to start paying attention. If East Boston and Revere approve the casino - which would be the continent's third-largest - on Nov. 5, the license lasts for 15 years, and there will likely not be another voting opportunity.

If you believe as we do - that casinos lower property values, increase crime, double gambling addiction rates, bottleneck traffic, etc. - then the next 56 days are of the utmost importance. (Caesars is already bankrolling an aggressive get-out-the-vote campaign; on the right are two photos of pro-casino workers knocking on doors and calling our neighbors.)

If we want to keep this casino out of our neighborhood, we need to get to work as well. We invite you to come find out how you can help the cause at the No Eastie Casino Get-Out-The-Vote Kickoff.

When: Wed., Sept. 11, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Sacred Heart Church (basement), 303 Paris Street
Snacks will be provided!
We encourage all who actively oppose this casino development to attend. You'll hear what No Eastie Casino has been up to and what we have planned for the next couple of months. We will be talking about campaign events and volunteer opportunities, and plugging you in where we need you. If you can't make Wednesday's meeting but are interested in getting involved, please fill out this simple volunteer survey.
Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. Remember, the clock's ticking toward the Nov. 5 referendum. The stakes couldn't be higher for the outcome of that vote.
Best,
The No Eastie Casino Leadership Team
