Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged his support for a gambling addiction campaign set up by a family which was torn apart by the issue.

Mr Cameron has written to Sheffield entrepreneur Adam Bradford, who launched the #gambleresponsibly campaign with his father, David.
David, aged 58, of Waterthorpe, Sheffield, was jailed for two years for fraud after stealing more than £50,000 from a company he worked for to feed his secret addiction.
Following his release from prison on licence after seven months, the family - which still faces losing their home - launched #gambleresponsibly and wrote to political leaders including Mr Cameron to raise awareness.
In his reply, Mr Cameron said: “We do, of course, want to see the gambling industry do more to recognise and mitigate the dangers of excessive gambling so fewer people fall victim to gambling addiction.”

Mr Cameron also said the government is launching a review of gambling advertising, covering both the watershed and sign-up offers.

Adam said: “It feels like a breakthrough. I know my dad is really pleased with it. It means this year’s worth of campaigning has all been worth it.

“Having gone through all this grief we can spin it on its head and do something positive about it.”
