Foxwoods to Cut Casino Hours, Layoffs Possible
MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (AP) — Foxwoods Resort Casino has announced plans to cut some hours of operation on portion of its gaming floor.
A memo to employees obtained by The Day of New London says the casino will shut down slot machines and some table games in the Rainmaker Casino area from early 4 a.m. on Mondays until 9 a.m. on Fridays.
The casino says the changes also will result in ‘‘staffing changes across all levels of employment.’’ The company did not say whether layoffs would be part of that plan.
Billy Shea, president of the union local that represents dealers and beverage servers, says he has not been notified of any staff reductions.
The Rainmaker Casino is one of six gaming areas at Foxwoods, which has just under 6,000 employees.
