New Mexico Woman Leaves Children In Truck While Gambling
This week, a New Mexico woman waived her right to a preliminary hearing after she was arrested for leaving two children in a truck in freezing weather back on November 29th. The children were ages nine and five.
Carashea Kenny was dropped off at the casino at around 6:45, according to her boyfriend, Timothy Smith. The boyfriend then went with the kids to the dump, and returned to pick Kenny up. When she was not outside, Smith left the keys in the ignition and went in to find his girlfriend.
Smith claims that Kenny told her she was prepared to leave, but that the machine she was playing on was hot. Apparently, Kenny lost track of time and she told authorities she did not know how long the children were left in the car.
The temperature was said to be thirty degrees. Kenny contends that she thought Smith was outside in the car with the children, and that she did not know they were unattended. The children were taken by the authorities and their whereabouts have not been revealed since they are both minors.
