Brendan Fevola's Audi gift car puts Alex in the fast lane

HE cannot pay his gambling debts, but Brendan Fevola has found enough spare cash to buy wife Alex a new Audi as a Christmas gift.

Though the couple are living in separate cities - Brendan in Brisbane and Alex in Melbourne - there obviously still is a strong bond and hope for the future of their marriage.

The Audi Q7 is valued at $80,000 and Fevola presented Alex with the car several weeks ago.

The pair have been living apart since the full extent of Fevola's gambling addiction was revealed this year.

This followed the outcry over the Lara Bingle shower photos.

"I'm back in Melbourne on principle," Alex said when they first split.

"I'd told myself if anything else happened I'd leave. It was a case of enough being enough and knowing I had to do something to make Brendan wake up before it was too late."

Fevola's manager, Alistair Lynch, said the Brisbane Lion would spending Christmas in Melbourne with his family.

Asked if Fevola had purchased the car or picked it up in a deal from a sponsor, Lynch said: "I know she is driving an Audi, but that's all I know.

"Brendan has a car sponsor, but it's not Audi."
