Steve Wynn has jumped
into the fray. After stating earlier this year that he would let voters decide
on their own without his influence, he wrote a check for $1,000,015. It's the
latest example of casino double speak. Say one thing, and do another.
It's all casino bosses
know how to do. Say one thing and do another. We've seen this story unfold in
over three dozen states. The claims are that thousands of jobs will come to
town, huge sums will return to state coffers, and local economies will rapidly
develop.
In reality, the
construction jobs come and go and what's left are jobs shifted out of local
businesses (and the incomes of local residents) into the hands of out-of-state
casino bosses residing in Las Vegas and elsewhere. The only way to avoid
repeating history is to defeat the casino industry's plans in Massachusetts
right here, right now.
