How much better off would our economy be if all, half, or even a quarter of the billions of dollars casino gamblers are losing annually throughout our country was sent on things like, homes, automobiles, household goods, and real entertainment?

BETHLEHEM — Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem raked in $533 million in the past year, according to the annual report released last week by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
That means gamblers lost almost $1.5 million a day at the casino built on the former lands of Bethlehem Steel, but unless you are one of those people who walked away with an empty wallet, that makes Sands perhaps the state's most successful casino.
"I'd say the board has always viewed Sands as a very successful casino. The numbers certainly speak for themselves," said Richard McGarvey, gaming control board spokesman. "With its hotel, outlet mall and other amenities, it's certainly a casino that board members point to as a model."
