BOSTON — The panel that oversees casino gambling and horse racing in Massachusetts has a new member.
Attorney General Maura Healey appointed retired Superior Court Judge Lloyd Macdonald to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission on Friday.
The Dartmouth resident replaces James McHugh, a retired judge who served his last day on the five-member commission Thursday.
According to Healey's office, Macdonald's legal career spanned four decades and included stints as a Superior Court judge, criminal defense attorney and a prosecutor.
Macdonald, a Harvard University and Columbia Law School graduate, was a Regional Administrative Judge where he oversaw all criminal and civil sessions in Bristol County. He also served as chief of the Public Corruption Special Investigations Unit at the U.S. attorney's office in Massachusetts and worked for the Boston law firm of K&L Gates.
