Dianna Duran Hit With Charges Last Week

A 26-page criminal complaint filed on Aug. 28 against New Mexico’s Secretary of State alleges a slew of crimes including fraud, embezzlement and money laundering, with hundreds of thousands of dollars from her personal bank accounts being withdrawn, and then lost, at casinos since 2013.
Republican Dianna Duran, who has been in office since 2010 and has made $85,000 a year, allegedly electronically withdrew $147,641 in cash at seven casinos in 2013, and $282,806.96 from eight casinos in 2014, according to documents obtained byCourthouseNews.com.
The New Mexico Attorney General has accused her of stealing campaign money for personal use.
The other charges for the high-ranking politician are ethics violations, conspiracy, computer access with the intent to defraud or embezzle, tampering with public records, identity theft, filing a false campaign report and violating political campaign law.
Lawmakers in New Mexico are currently calling for her resignation and/or impeachment.
