We're back
at it! Senator Lou D'Allesandro has put
forth SB 113, a two-casino bill similar to last year's, which is customized for
Millennium Gaming's property at Rockingham Park in Salem. The other location
may possibly be New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, one of the gateways to
the Lakes Region.
The vote is very close in the Senate this term, with
Senator Dan Feltes the key vote. Senator Feltes represents Concord, Hopkinton,
Warner and Henniker, and is said to be troubled by gambling but doesn't see
other options for state revenue. If you are a constituent, or a business or
organization which will be affected by these casinos, please call Senator Feltes
to let him know how you feel. His office number at the State House is
(603) 271-3067, and his email is Dan.Feltes@leg.state.nh.us
. We recommend you call, and by this Monday, if possible.
There's another way to
help as well. This Tuesday, February 17, 9 AM at the State House, a Senate
hearing will be held on this bill in Representatives' Hall. We are
anticipating a turnout from casino supporters, including a heavy union
presence. We would like our many anti-casino supporters to be visible at the
hearing as well. We will be at the entrance to the 2nd floor gallery with our
CasiNO stickers for you to wear, but no signs are allowed.
With your
help, we have a chance of stopping this bill in the Senate!
