A Slot Barn (by whatever elegant name) located at Suffolk Downs will cost Massachusetts taxpayers $500 MILLION. Where is the media commenting on that?
Those figures are according to a report commissioned by Senator Petrucelli, paid for with taxpayer dollars, that the Senator has refused to produce. What is he hiding? And why is the Herald, the media ignoring it?
Mayor Menino and Senator Petrucelli were recipients of $16,000 in 'charitable contributions' from a Wyoming owner of Suffolk Downs.
The Mayor has refused to conduct a study of the impacts and costs of crime and gambling addiction. What will this cost the City of Boston in terms of increased public safety costs?
Isn't it time to insist that City government make informed decisions? Or should the City simply allow a King to rule?

BOSTON (AP) — Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has named a 5-member panel to help the city plan for a possible resort casino at the Suffolk Downs horse track.
Menino said Thursday that Host Community Advisory Committee would work to protect the interests of the city and all its residents and businesses during casino talks.
The panel’s chairman is Brian Leary, a former TV news reporter who is now a partner with a Boston law firm.
Menino has indicated his support for a casino at Suffolk Downs.
The operators of the track have formally asked the cities of Boston and Revere to begin host community negotiations for a casino. The track straddles the two cities.
The state’s new gambling law allows up to three resort casinos in Massachusetts, including one in the eastern part of the state.
