Texas Gov. Rick Perry reaffirms opposition to gambling expansion

Republican leaders have consistently rejected more gambling in Texas, though it's thought that some might be open to allowing video slot machines at racetracks, since that wouldn't mean gambling is available at more sites in the state. Pressed on that possibility, Perry declined to clarify his view.

"Drilling down into the weeds of definitions is not a particularly practical conversation to have," said the Republican incumbent, who is running for re-election this fall against Democrat Bill White.
