Sands Casino Bethlehem Receives $48,000 Fine for Underage
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today fined Sands Bethworks Gaming, LLC, operator of the Sands Resort Casino Bethlehem for permitting underage patrons to gain entrance to the gaming floor and either gamble on slot machines, consume alcohol, or both.
The $48,000 civil penalty was unanimously approved by the Board at its public meeting Thursday in Harrisburg as part of a consent agreement between the Board's Office of Enforcement Counsel and the operator of the Northampton County casino. It is the first fine imposed on the Sands for any violation since its opening in May, 2009.
The six individual instances occurred between June 1, 2009 and January 23, 2010, with three of the patrons also receiving alcohol:

gaining access to the gaming floor;

a total of 5 hours and 40 minutes. In this instance, the patron was
cited by the Pennsylvania State Police for Defiant Trespass;
-- December 11, 2009 - a 20-year-old patron gained access to the gaming
floor and placed wagers on slot machines for approximately 50 minutes.

That headline is totally dramatic but it's true. Sean Patrick McGraw played the Hinckley's Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN five nights in a row and he is donating the proceeds from all five nights to Nashville flood relief organization.
Less than a mile from us Richland Creek claimed the lives of an elderly couple on their way to Church. Stone walls a hundred and fifty years old are gone, stone bridges connecting neighbors to the street were swept away leaving vehicles stranded, and it seems everyone with a basement had to say goodbye to whatever they had in it.
