LABOR
INSTITUTE OFFERS VOTERS LAST CHANCE
A. Philip Randolph Institute to Hold Forum at
Labor Council
SPRINGFIELD - The A. Philip Randolph Institute
of Massachusetts, a national senior constituency group of the American
Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations is offering
Springfield voters one last chance to hear from both sides of the casino
referendum scheduled for Tuesday.
On Monday, July 15, 2013, the institute
will host a forum at Pioneer Valley Labor Council located at 640 Page Boulevard,
Springfield, MA at 6:00 p.m.
Tony Taylor, chairman of the COPE Committee of
the Labor Council and an executive with the AFL-CIO of the Pioneer Valley has
extended invitations to MGM Resorts International as well as Hard Rock and
Mohegan Sun to offer their views of bringing a casino to the pioneer valley.
Taylor has also invited the Springfield-based Citizens Against Casino Gaming to
share their views of a casino in Springfield.
"The voters of Springfield have one last
chance to hear the views of both sides and make an informed decision come
Tuesday," Taylor stated. "For a vote as significant as the casino referendum,
those who have not yet decided which way to vote have an opportunity to hear
from both sides," Taylor added.
The forum will be an informal
presentation by those who attend. Taylor also stated that invitations are being
extended to Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and members of the Springfield city
council.
