Another one of those great casino jobs for our loved ones

The Associated Press - July 24, 2013 - Judge: AC casino can control waitress weight gain

An Atlantic City casino can control how much weight that its cocktail servers gain. A state judge says the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa's rules are reasonable. Twenty-two servers, known as "Borgata Babes," objected to the policy. They said the casino only attempted to enforce it on female servers.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the judge found the rule would be considered sexist if the policy targeted female servers only or punished a trait in one sex over another.

The judge found neither was evident in the case.

The Associated Press - Sep. 19, 2012 - Another NJ casino hit with bias suit by waitresses

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Another Atlantic City casino has been hit with a bias lawsuit by cocktail waitresses.

In a case just moved to federal court, seven servers at the Golden Nugget claim they were discriminated against. They claim they were denied the chance to work lucrative shifts in so-called "party pits" because of their appearance. They say the jobs went instead to new female hires between the ages of 19 and 26 with dress sizes of zero to four.

They say the pits are staffed by servers wearing "little more than a see-through negligee." Golden Nugget's owners tell The Star-Ledger of Newark the lawsuit is "meritless."

Last year seven waitresses claimed they were fired by Resorts Casino Hotel because they weren't sexy enough. In 2008 two former servers settled a sex discrimination suit against the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
