Casinos make their money by luring gamblers to
the brink of addiction. Some people are able to avoid it. But far too many
succumb to the lure and to the temptation. Entire paychecks are often gambled
away in a few hours. Sadly, casinos prey disproportionately upon the weakest,
poorest and most desperate in our community.
Then they try to wash their hands
by funding programs designed to "mitigate" gambling addiction. Ask yourself this: how can you
successfully mitigate gambling addiction when your entire business model is
designed to encourage it?
