MGC offers public meeting at inconvenient hours on another Jewish Holiday: Do you think media will notice?

PLEASE - attend the gambling commission's hearing in Plainville on December 4th, 4:00 - 6:00PM (or later, if needed) at the Beatrice Wood School. They will hear testimony about awarding the license for slots to Penn National, who plan to open the Plainridge Park Casino. As this is a public hearing, anyone is allowed to speak.

If you can't make it to the hearing, you may submit your comments to the commission at
mgccomments@state.ma.us

This is VERY important. Please don't let it be said again that only three citizens oppose the casino at Plainridge.

PLAINVILLE - The state Gaming Commission will hold three public hearings next month, including one in Plainville, on three proposals for the state's lone slots machine license.

The Plainville hearing will be held 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at Wood School.

Hearings also will be held in Leominister the day before and Raynham the day after the Plainville forum.

The three communities are the sites of proposals for a license for 1,250 slot machines.

According to the commission website:

"The purpose of these meetings is to provide members of the public with an additional opportunity to address the slots applicants and the commission. The meetings will also serve as a vehicle at which the community can receive updates from applicants on their slots parlor proposals and mitigation strategies."

The Plainville proposal is by Penn National Gaming for the Plainridge Racecourse harness track off Route 1.

The Leominister application is by Cordish Companies and the Raynham application is by the owner of the former Raynham Park dog track and its partner Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment.

The commission is expected to award the license within the next two months.
