A new Tribal Leader on Martha's Vineyard, Casino opponents decry island's alcoholism
  • Aquinnah tribe on Martha’s Vineyard elects new chairman. Tobias Vanderhoop has said he supports gaming. Following the ouster of the Wampanoag of Gay Head Tribal Council Chairwoman Cheryl Maltais-Andrews, Patrick said he has spoken with the new chairman-elect who has not taken a position on the tribe's plans for a casino on Martha's Vineyard. Patrick said he continues to believe the tribe forfeited its rights to tribal gaming, despite a new legal analysis from the Federal Indian Gaming Commission giving the Aquinnah tribe the green light for a gambling facility. - Vineyard Gazette.
