Leave It In Vegas!

Florida Politics

Anti gambling ad hits the airwaves
TALLAHASSEE -- Anti gambling group "No Casinos," which fought against destination casino resorts last spring is back, again airing an ad that tries to tie problems in Las Vegas to Florida.

“Unfortunately, a foreign casino conglomerate and Las Vegas interests aim to plunder our state,” said No Casinos President, John Sowinski. “Genting and big Vegas operators would profit at Florida’s great expense, and leave in their wake the familiar gambling side effects of addiction, economic calamity, and increased crime.”

Genting is expected to try a two-pronged approach at getting a casino resort approved, by lobbying both the Legislature and voters to make it a reality. The group has financed a committee to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot allowing destination casinos in the state.

No Casinos launched several ads online and on air against the destination casino concept last spring.

Families go to Florida to vacation and mingle with Mickey Mouse, among other well known celebrities.

Genting promised streets paved with gold, bought most politicians and lobbyists, and promised 20,000 to 30,000 jobs.

Whatever you wanted, they promised it!

Florida didn't buy it! [When will we learn?]
