Casinos Rolling the Dice on Expansions

Gambling Spree. That's the cover story in today's Business First. It shows how WNY casinos are spending millions to expand and upgrade. The stakes are high and so is the competition as casinos go after millions of visitors who patronize gambling venues.

 

The report says, in recent years, casinos from Niagara Falls, Ont., to Canandaigua have invested nearly $300 million in renovations and additions. That's more than the combined cost of HarborCenter, the Hotel Lafayette and the Tishman and One Canalside buildings.

Seneca gaming says casinos in Salamanca, Niagara Falls and Buffalo, combined, attract 16 million patrons a year. 26 percent of them are from outside Western New York.
