Casinos a risky bet
By:
I just feel bad for the people of Everett and Revere, who are being played for fools (Feb. 28). The prospect of steady income in a troubling economic time is blinding them to the reality of what a casino brings.
We don’t know exactly what impact such a casino will have in a congested urban environment. You can’t predict how many small families will be destroyed because mom or dad can’t resist. You can’t predict how many 18-year-olds with decent fake IDs will start their gambling addiction in their hometown.
Believe it or not a two-hour drive to Connecticut just might be saving a lot of lives. People need to take the blinders off and realize what they risk is the future of their cities.
