The cases

Nancy J. Brown, 65, of West Springfield in Erie County: The former Springfield secretary pleaded guilty in August 2011 to embezzling nearly $400,000 from township accounts. An Erie County judge sentenced her to six to 18 years in state prison. Restitution ordered: $396,314. Restitution paid to date: $1,223

Ira L. Johnson, 53, of Penn Hills: The former financial services manager with West Penn Allegheny Health System pleaded guilty in July 2013 to stealing more than $700,000 and using the money to gamble at casinos in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Jersey and Illinois. Restitution ordered: $713,357. Restitution paid to date: None

Ella Jones, 61, of Turtle Creek: The former Braddock municipal manager pleaded guilty in March 2011 to stealing nearly $170,000 from the borough. An Allegheny County judge sentenced her to nine years of probation. Restitution ordered: $167,896. Restitution paid to date: $344.70

Lori J. Smith, 53, of North Huntingdon: The former employee of the Murrysville branch of MSA Employee Federal Credit Union pleaded guilty in January 2011 to stealing more than $125,000. A judge sentenced her to five years' probation and one year of house arrest. Restitution ordered: $127,360. Restitution paid to date: $530

Diane L. Stanesic, 60, of West Mifflin: Stanesic contacted her insurance company in May 2008 to admit that she had fraudulently submitted claims totaling nearly $36,000 for cancer treatments she never received. A judge sentenced Stanesic to five years' probation. Restitution ordered: $35,999.44. Restitution paid to date: $1,665

John J. Tain, 43, of Lawrence, Washington County: The former controller at UBICS Inc. pleaded guilty in October 2010 to embezzling nearly $1 million from the Canonsburg-based international information technology firm from 2005 to 2010. A federal judge sentenced him to 33 months in prison. Restitution ordered: $913,230.15.

Restitution paid to date:

M. Zacherl, 65, of East Lackawannock, Mercer County: The former accounts payable manager of a Hermitage chemical company where she worked for 22 years pleaded guilty in August 2013 to embezzling more than $1 million from 2008 to 2012. A judge sentenced her to one to five years in state prison. Restitution ordered: $1.126 million. Restitution paid to date: $353.14

Cheri A. Logue, 45, of Claysville, Washington County: The former secretary-bookkeeper for Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Services pleaded guilty in April 2011 to embezzling about $195,000 from the legal-aid agency from 2001 to 2008. A federal judge sentenced her to 22 months in prison. Her family paid full restitution before sentencing.

PENDING CASES

Joseph Kocott Sr., 44, and Joseph Kocott Jr., 23, of Penn Hills: Prosecutors accuse the father and son of defrauding business clients and spending more than $100,000 at Rivers Casino.

Lori Burleigh, 51, of Beltzhoover: Prosecutors accuse the 18-year employee of Progressive Home Federal Savings & Loan Association in Beltzhoover of stealing more than $90,000 from accounts of elderly customers from 2011 to 2013.

John Pushak, 64, of Cecil: Prosecutors on March 17 charged the former Cecil police chief with using more than $10,000 in federal drug-investigation money to gamble, making 31 withdrawals at or near The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.

Ben Bartilson, 30, of McKeesport: The former manager of four suburban Primanti Bros. restaurants is accused of stealing more than $30,000 in February and gambling it away. Prosecutors charged him this month.
