Our neighborhood in Foxboro is one mile away from Penn National’s proposed Plainridge Park Casino. As you know, research shows that communities within 10 miles of a casino will experience an increase in crime, drunk driving, and problem gambling and a significant loss in property value. ...
As a parent raising two small children in this area, I have been inspired by this quote by Nelson Mandela: “There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
Please take a look at the population density of the area surrounding the proposed Plainrdige Park Casino and pay particular attention to the number of children that live in this area. Any positives that may come about due to jobs and revenue to the town of Plainville are far outweighed by the negatives and in particular the negative impact on children.
The children in our area deserve much better than casinos.
