What follows was intended to be Bruce Fisher’s column for next week’s print paper. But yesterday, the parties in a lawsuit against the federal government arguing that the Seneca casino in downtown Buffalo is illegal—this is their third lawsuit; they’ve won the first two—filed new court papers containing a shocking allegation: The girlfriend of an attorney for the Washington, DC firm that represents the Seneca Gaming Corporation was instrumental in changing the US Department of the Interior’s interpretation of federal law that favors the continued existence of the Seneca casino downtown. So we thought we’d go ahead with Bruce’s piece today.
