3 in New London charged in $326,000 credit card fraud

New London, Conn. — State, federal and local law enforcement joined Thursday to arrest three New London residents as part of lengthy criminal investigation into credit card fraud.
The investigation originated with the state police casino unit and focused on a criminal enterprise comprised of several people who fraudulently used credit cards and stole more than $326,000, state police said.
On Thursday, authorities executed four search-and-seizure warrants at four addresses in New London. Police said the search warrants led to the discovery of numerous items of evidence and recovery of stolen property.
In addition to the arrests, police said they hold warrants for three other people who are in prison for crimes associated with the investigation.
On Thursday, Joseph Ellis, 44, and Michael Hyslop, 28, each were charged with first-degree larceny conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny. Also arrested was Shauntay Ellis, 25, on the charge of second-degree failure to appear.
All three were expected to appear Friday in New London Superior Court.
Assisting the state police casino unit in the investigation was the state police Eastern District Major Crime Unit, Connecticut Financial Crimes Task Force, Statewide Narcotics Task Force, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Postal Inspector’s Office, New London police, Groton City police, Groton town police and Waterford police.
