Safety efforts to be ramped up in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY — Twenty-five new special law enforcement officers will likely be conducting walking patrols near Atlantic City’s casinos by summer’s end.

The staffing boost is part of plans announced Monday to clean up the city’s tourism areas.

State Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa says the plan’s goal is to make the area around the casinos safer and more comfortable for visitors.

The casinos are a key engine for the state’s economy. [Meaning: New Jersey is ADDICTED to Gambling Revenues.]

Efforts are already under way to crack down on prostitution. And more services are being offered to homeless people, in hopes of getting them off the beach.

The plan also calls for expanding the number of Casino Reinvestment Development Authority ambassadors from 22 to 60. They’re charged with helping tourists and reporting crimes.
