Massachusetts ‘Gaming’ Future

Casino monthly statements are not meant to be a cure they are all about prevention and awareness. Now it is true that those who are enrolled in casino reward card programs can request their casino gambling activity on line or by mail, but the percentage of card holders who request this information is less than the percentage of those who win in casinos. This is why it has to be mandatory.

Sitting in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Gaming Oversight Committee is House Bill 1335, "Casino Monthly Statements." This legislation has been put forth by Bucks County Rep. Paul Clymer in the last four sessions. It's the only legislation since our gaming law passed in 2004 that addresses the compulsive casino gambling problem before not after one has the problem.

Now, any district that has a casino receives a hosting fee of $10 million annually. The 6th Senatorial District here in Bucks County, represented by Sen. Tommy Tomlinson, is one of those districts. And so Tomlinson and other key players have done everything in their power to stop the casino monthly statements legislation from becoming law.
