Plainridge Bait & Switch Speak Up!

The Gaming Commission NEEDS to hear from residents of Plainville and surrounding towns (Foxborough, Wrentham, Mansfield, North Attleborough, Franklin, Walpole, Norfolk) about why they should NOT give the slots license to the Plainridge Park Casino.

PLEASE send your comments to mgccomments@state.ma.us

Need a reason? In this excerpt from the October 7th MGC meeting transcript, Jay Snowden from Penn National states: “...we have 90 acres of land. And so, we have the ability to put on outdoor festivals, whether that's in the infield of the racetrack itself or some of the adjacent lands. We've been very successful in the past of putting up outdoor sprung or tent structures and offering simulated game shows...we offered five shows over three nights, 2,000 people per show. All of them sold out...These are the type of things that we can do...”

Do the math, folks. 2,000 people for 5 shows over 3 days is 10,000 people. These are NOT the numbers nor the types of events that we were able to hear about or comment on before we voted or before the Planning Board gave Ourway/Plainridge their special permit.

Need more reasons?
How about loss of property value, loss of funds to the consumer economy, problem and pathological gambling, impact on the surrounding neighborhoods, DUI fatalities, embezzlement, theft, bankruptcies, traffic, impact on surrounding towns, loss to local business, increase in domestic violence and child neglect...

No one ever gambled their way out of a financial crisis. Plainville is no different.

PLEASE SEND YOUR COMMENTS TODAY, AND PLEASE SHARE THIS WIDELY.
