Here's
what we do know: now, more than ever, transparency matters. And unfortunately,
we can't count on Suffolk Downs to show good judgment about who they invite into
our community. Recently, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission has made exceptions to the rules for
Suffolk Downs, and we're extremely concerned that they're going to do the same
thing here. Now, more than ever, it is critical that we educate our neighbors
and voters about the glaring problems in the Suffolk Downs casino plans, and the
flaws in transparency that have plagued this fight from the start.
For
months, we have been raising our concerns about Caesars Entertainment with the
public and policymakers. Caesars' $24 billion in debt wasn't enough to stop
Suffolk Downs from bringing them on in the first place, and their exit now won't
be enough for Suffolk Downs to back down from the fight for East Boston's
future.
They
won't back down, and neither will we. Join us tomorrow, 9:30 a.m., at Our
Saviour's Lutheran (Maverick Sq., 28 Paris St), as we continue to take this
message to our neighbors.
Sleep well!
