Plainridge Racecourse has scheduled a "Neighborhood Forum" at their public relations office to discuss the MONTH LONG BLASTING AND DRILLING that will begin in our neighborhood on June 27th.
The "Neighborhood Forum" will take place on Wednesday, June 27th at 6PM at 416 South Street in Plainville.
From the letter from Plainridge to abutters:
"Plainridge will have its representatives and representatives of Construction Drilling Services, Seismic Solutions Inc., and Plainville Public Safety to offer you information and answer any questions or concerns you may have."
This project was given a permit by the Planning Board in 2010. At that time, in those meetings, we weren't allowed to talk about slots or any other reason why this failing and failed business that almost never comes anywhere close to filling their parking lot would need to build this behemoth.
That means it was not disclosed or even discussed at the time that Plainridge anticipates 6,534 vehicle trips/day, in and out of that garage, 24/7/365, should they get the slots license. That means we will suffer while it's being built, then we will suffer the added noise, light, and pollution, every hour of every day, if it is licensed.
If Plainridge had wanted to, they could easily have placed the garage elsewhere on their 100+ acre property — maybe close to Route One where, truly, no one lives. Instead, they chose to tuck it in, cheek-by-jowl with our neighborhood. They could have avoided this month of blasting and drilling. They could have spared us what comes next. But they didn't.
They say "good neighbor." As someone who lives fewer than 250' from the blasting and drilling, I say "B.S."
Do attend the meeting, if you can.
