A story was shared with me by an honorable legislator who works diligently for his/her constituents.
It goes without saying that this legislator voted NO! on the Predatory Gambling legislation.
Two legislators are having lunch near the State House.
Two Gambling Lobbyists walk past and inquire 'How's it going?'
One brain-dead legislator tells the Gambling Lobbyists that he/she is taking a lot of heat from constituents from support for Gambling.
The Gambling Lobbyists respond by whipping out the checkbooks and writing campaign contributions to both legislator.
The campaign finance limit is $200.
For $400, each of those legislators sold their votes, betrayed their positions and defied their constituents.
It was the brain-dead legislator who repeated this story to other failing to recognize its significance.
Please note that the campaign finance limit is $200, unless you are Mayor Menino or Senator Petrucelli and have a 'charity' to accept contributions from vested interests like.....oh...say...an owner of Suffolk Downs?
And those contributions don't have to be reported, so both Mayor Menino and Senator Petrucelli have the benefit of secrecy.
Yes! This is the same Senator Petrucelli who commissioned a report, was quoted in a newspaper regarding the report, than didn't have the report, then said 'it was a back of the napkin kinda thing,' and for a young man suffered a great deal of mental confusion.....or is it?
Do you think it's time to get these sleazy politicians out of office?
