Mayor Sarno: Typical Political Coward

Predatory Gambling can't withstand scrutiny, public debate or study!
They know it destroys communities, increases crime and eliminates local businesses.

The political cowards who promote this losing strategy don't want the public to know.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Some Springfield residents who don't want MGM to build a casino in the City's South End want Mayor Domenic Sarno to host public debates. Those residents went to Mayor Sarno's office at City Hall Wednesday.

They did not get any direct response from Mayor Sarno. However, Citizens Against Casino Gaming and Arise for Social Justice told 22News they will continue to demand three debates where residents can ask the mayor questions about potential negative impacts of a casino; such as increased crime, traffic issues and impact on property values.

Michael Kogut of the Citizens Against Casino Gaming told 22News, “It's very important. The mayor hasn't even acknowledging that there are negative aspects to a casino, especially an urban casino. He's well aware of what they are, but he has refused to inform the public of what they are.”
Mayor Sarno's Communication Director Jim Leydon sent 22News a statement:
"We will continue to get all the information out to the public so they can make an educated decision on the facts. As always his administration will continue to participate in discussion panels and forums."

He said any specific questions should be directed to the State Gaming Commission or MGM.
