Erie casino to remove more than 300 slot machines

Gamblers are finding more elbow room -- and fewer slot machines -- at Presque Isle Downs & Casino.
The casino is in the process of removing 311 underperforming slot machines from its floor, which ultimately will lower the net number of machines from 2,031 to 1,720.
By Friday, all 311 older machines that aren't producing much revenue will be off the floor, said Mike Tamburelli, vice president and general manager of Presque Isle Downs.
Tamburelli said the casino is replacing some older machines with newer ones that it thinks will be more popular and draw repeat customers.
