Tribe Says Locals Need Casino Veto

An upstate New York Indian tribe is pressuring Albany to give local governments and communities veto power over new casinos, as Gov. Andrew Cuomo and lawmakers consider expanding the scope of gambling.

The Oneida Indian Nation, which operates a full-scale resort casino in central New York east of Syracuse, is financing a new advocacy group that supports giving local legislative bodies or voters a formal say over locating casinos.
