The revenue for the month was $1.3 million, down from nearly $1.8 million in August 2011, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported.
Statewide, the revenue was $59.86 million, or 11.1 percent higher than the $53.87 million from August 2011, the board said.
However, the total dollar amount includes $2.1 million in revenue from Valley Forge Casino Resort, which just opened in late March.
The percentage increase was 7.28 percent without Valley Forge, said Richard McGarvey, a spokesman for the gaming board.
Six of 10 Pennsylvania casinos that were open in August 2011 showed revenue declines in August, but the percentage loss was greatest at Presque Isle Downs.
Mike Tamburelli, Presque Isle Downs general manager, said much of the revenue decline could be attributed to competition from Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, which opened May 14.
