Timbers, who currently has no fixed address, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court this morning to face a charge of theft.
The magistrates heard a probation report that revealed Timbers had begun taking small amounts of around £30 from the pub, but allowed this to escalate to around £80 as his gambling addiction increased.
He had started working at the Coach and Horses in October last year but has since lost his job there because of the thefts.
The probation report stated that Timbers was spending around £100 a week on gambling but was now working with addiction charity NORCAS to overcome his addiction.
Timbers was given 12-month community and supervision orders, as well as 100 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay back £800 in compensation to the pub’s owner.
