Oregon: Only 32% wanted casino

Oregon voters heard the same false promises Massachusetts legislators and voters have heard and rejected them:

1. Jobs, jobs, jobs
2. Overstated revenue for a HOT BUTTON ISSUE - like EDUCATION
3. Streets paved with Fool's Gold and universal prosperity

Voters reject proposal for state's first privately owned casino

Voters soundly rejected Measure 75, which would have created Oregon's first privately owned casino. The measure gained only 32 percent of votes.

The measure would have amended state law to authorize a casino in Wood Village. But it would not have lifted the casino ban in the state. Voters still would have needed to approve a constitutional amendment.

Backers of the measure said the casino would have helped finance schools and create jobs but many opponents, including Oregon's tribal casinos, said measure would have pulled money and jobs from elsewhere in the state.
