Interesting statistics have faces

The site linked below has interesting statistics worthy of reviewing in their entirety, but each of those statistics has human faces, families destroyed, lives destroyed that are not revealed.

Gambling Addiction has the lowest rate of self-referral of any addiction and one wonders if the actual cost is how many suicides that are ignored in those statistics?

The Oklahoma Association for Gambling Addiction Awareness

A survey of Gamblers Anonymous members in the United States found that 48 percent had considered suicide and 13 percent had attempted it.

In a survey of nearly 400 Gamblers Anonymous members, 57 percent admitted stealing to finance their gambling. Collectively they stole $30 million, for an average of $135,000 per individual.

In a study funded by the National Institute of Justice, the results indicated that casino gambling is associated with an increase in personal bankruptcy in 7 of 8 communities studied. The eighth community, Biloxi, MS, was the only "destination resort" community of the eight communities studied and showed a decrease in the number of bankruptcies filed. The results suggest that there is a direct and positive relationship between the length of time casinos have been in the community and bankruptcy rate. Those communities that have had casinos longest tended to have the highest increase in the number of bankruptcies filed.
