The U.S. casino market took a hit from the recession that began at the end of 2007 from which it's only just started to recover. Total casino gambling revenue by year for U.S. commercial casinos:
2004: $28.9 billion
2005: $30.4 billion
2006: $32.4 billion
2007: $34.1 billion
2008: $32.5 billion
2009: $30.7 billion
