Gambling addict had stolen truck
SAINT JOHN - A 20-year-old with a severe gambling addiction pleaded guilty to possession of a 2010 Ford pickup, knowing it was stolen. Craig Alexander Schultz of Glengarry Drive took the vehicle from his employer, Valley Excavation Services, last week, said prosecutor Chris Titus. Rothesay Regional Police put out a bulletin and city police stopped Schultz, with guns drawn, after he pulled into the parking lot of Chateau Saint John. Police were concerned he had a gun because of a text message sent by Schultz to his ex-girlfriend saying he had one. No weapons were found. Provincial court Judge Alfred Brien adjourned sentencing until Dec. 16 for the preparation of pre-sentence report. Schultz was released on a promise to stay out of any place with video gambling machines.
