Woods sentenced for embezzlement
By Charles Gazaway
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A former employee of a Louisville car dealership was sentenced to eight years in prison for stealing nearly $1 million from his employer.
Gregory Woods had entered a guilty plea on embezzlement charges and learned his fate on Friday.
His defense attorney said Woods has a gambling addiction and lobbied for probation, but the prosecutor focused on how the theft hurt Toyota of Louisville.
After Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Frederic J. Cowan denied probation, Woods was taken into custody.
Prosecutors say Woods stole the money from the dealership over a five year period.
