Casino lawyers facing defense attorneys' questions in Alabama gambling trial

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A casino lobbyist who pleaded guilty is returning to the witness stand in Alabama's gambling corruption trial to be questioned by defense attorneys.

Country Crossing lobbyist Jennifer Pouncy will be testifying Friday for the fourth day.

Under questioning by defense lawyers Thursday, she said indicted Sen. Jim Preuitt never formally accepted her offer of $2 million in campaign contributions to vote for pro-gambling legislation. She also said indicted Sen. Larry Means sought a $100,000 donation but never tied it to him voting for the legislation. She testified indicted Sen. Quinton Ross pressured her for campaign contributions, but never said he would quit supporting the bill if he didn't get them.

Pouncy will be sentenced on her guilty plea to conspiracy in November. She said she hopes for probation.
