MTR Gaming trims 4th-qtr loss on lower expenses

CHESTER, W.Va. --
Casino operator MTR Gaming Group Inc. said Thursday that its fourth-quarter loss narrowed as it recorded lower expenses and revenue rose in gambling, food, beverage and lodging revenue all rose.
The company reported a loss of $2.8 million, or 10 cents a share, for the three months that ended Dec. 31. That compares with a loss of $24.2 million, or 88 cents a share, in the period a year earlier.
MTR and its subsidiaries own and operate Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort in Chester, Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Erie, Pa., and Scioto Downs in Columbus, Ohio.
Revenue at Mountaineer fell 12 percent ....
