Dad of convicted arms dealer wants $100K bond back
MIAMI -- The father of a convicted Miami arms dealer is seeking return of $100,000 in forfeited bail money he posted for his son.
Michael Diveroli says in court papers that the money represents his life savings. It was forfeited to the government after the son, Efraim Diveroli, was arrested in a separate arms deal while out on bail in the Miami case.
Michael Diveroli says he took steps to make sure his son complied with the bail terms but failed. The father says Efraim Diveroli has struggled with alcohol and drug abuse and gambling addiction.
A hearing is set next week on the father's motion.
Efraim Diveroli is serving a four-year prison sentence for fraud in a $300 million Pentagon ammunition contract.
