The Senate Hearings by the Ways and Means committee epitomizes why this stuff should be broadcast in its entirety.
The Acting Chairwoman who sat behind Senator Brewer's placard (she wasn't Senator Brewer, but will have to ferret out her name. Pardon the pun!) admonished each casino opponent to limit their comments to 3 minutes, even interrupting some who exceeded that limit, yet allowed a team brought by a casino developer to ramble for more than 20 minutes without interruptions, even conducting a sales pitch for their company.
That "Team" brought with them an attorney who specializes in Indian Gaming Law to sabotage the Mashpee Wampanoags' endeavor to have the Malaysian investors provide lifetime guaranteed incomes.
Such a deal!
Except Senator Rosenberg and his Dream Team, who from all accounts, drew up this grossly flawed "draft," apparently with no expert comprehension of IGRA et al, peppered the attorney with questions.
Free legal advice?
Senators, there's more to the mess you've created than what attorney revealed.
Advice: Get yourselves an attorney who specializes before you drag the Commonwealth into Federal Court defending yourselves from your ignorance with taxpayer dollars.
The Chairwoman can at least be credited with limiting a few of Senator Pacheco's long winded and repretitive comments.
The Senator is rumored to have an Ambassorship in the offing, refusing to comment because he's up for re-election.
Ambassador? Good place for the verbose!
While we're supposed to speak of and to "Senators" respectfully, today's Hearing represents why voters feel disenfranchised.
This wasn't truly a Hearing, but yet, another Love Fest.
Except for Senator Tucker, who asked questions of the Slot Parlor Supporters.
Did anyone ask Hartmann about the low wage jobs created by Mohegan Sun in CT? Did anyone ask about Mohegan Sun paying such low wages they had to recruit overseas?
Has anyone on the Committee read the Spectrum Report prepared for the CT DOSR?
