When states become partners in Predatory Gambling --
Advisory council meets to discuss state of Delaware's gambling industry

DOVER, Del. — State lottery officials are getting an update from the operators of Delaware's three casinos on the health of the state's gambling industry.
Casino officials have said for months that they are struggling to turn a profit from slot machines and table games. Among the factors they have cited are high licensing fees paid to the state, the poor economy and competition from casinos in neighboring states.
Officials were to find out whether conditions have improved from the casinos' perspective at Tuesday's meeting of the state Video Lottery Advisory Council at Dover Downs.
State officials have indicated that they are willing to meet with casino operators to discuss possible options in revising revenue-sharing agreements.
The council is expected to finalize its recommendations in a report next month.
