You didn't need to be a political junkie and follow the news or lack thereof from Beacon Hill to know that truckloads of important legislation, stuff that benefits cities and towns and citizens was held up by grandstanding and flawed leadership.

The House membership chose as their leader someone who seems incapable of effective leadership, more inclined toward childish rants and temper tantrums, vengeance and special privileges.

The Senate? Not immune!

The Hearings, the Process, the Slap Dash Legislation: a defining disgrace.

Closed door meetings, secrecy and anecdotal clap trap ruled the day.

Assurances of "We'll get it right" betrayed intent.

Translation: We'll cram it through whatever it takes. Screw the taxpayer!

Gaveling Opponents to silence when their 3 minutes was up?

Allowing Proponents to speak endlessly, even those who had nothing to say?

Impartial? Who are you kidding?

You weren't listening anyway.

The Gambling Vultures crawled around the State House, schmoozing, dictating legislation, unconcerned about the future of the Commonwealth we call home.

The only thing Senator Rosenberg got right, though: "This isn't Rocket Science!"
Voters, residents of this Commonwealth who watched this careless charade are pretty offended and angry by the disregard of their democracy.

From SHNS:

The acrimony is less between the two parties than it is the two chambers, concern among aides not so much about how their chamber is being viewed in the press as long as the other side is viewed worse. Senate officials for months have been griping quietly that the House has been sitting on crates of legislation that’s been sent its way.

BRANCHES TO BEGIN FORMAL SESSION BLITZ AS SESSION WINDS DOWN
As lawmakers enter the home stretch of the 2009-2010 session, both branches plan a blitz of formal sessions,

having spent much

of the past

year and a half meeting

formally

about once a week.

You might begin to change your image by calling for an

INDEPENDENT COST BENEFITS ANALYSIS.

And just maybe, Senator Rosenberg, you might begin by telling the truth about Indian Gaming?
